Welcome to the nal issue of Arizona EXTREME Motorsports for 2017. As the nice weather is here, there is lots going on here in the Valley of the Sun and elsewhere in Arizona. We’ve got some news for you on a wide variety of things, both race events, business news and people, so read on!
We’ve made an important change to the business card ad section; now it’s listed by City & Region - with a list of the motorsports recreation opportunities listed before each section. Please check out these sponsors and advertisers, they make your paper possible (and free!) Also check out the event schedule for EVERY possible event I could nd on the internet! LOL!
Dome Valley Raceway, a sand drag track located at 18725 E Co 7th St in Wellton, Arizona 85356, has announced their reopening with a huge race on the January 26-28 weekend. It can be a bit challenging to nd the rst time, but there are good maps & instructions on their Facebook page, along with plenty of information on the event. In addition to all the regular sand drag classes, there will be a Top Fuel Shootout, so plan on making the short trip down to Dome Valley to see some really interesting racing! Dome Valley is the world’s quickest sand/dirt drag track at 2.16 seconds, too!
On a sadder note, several Arizona race tracks are or might be about to close: the dirt track in Snow ake remains closed but they’re working on a schedule for 2018 including a big Monster Truck show; the dirt oval in Tucson (Arizona Motorplex) remains closed with no events on the horizon, however Tucson Speedway (originally a dirt oval but now a NASCAR 3/8 mile paved track) opens their year on January 25-27 with the Chilly Willy 150 and a $10,000 purse! But on the National scene, Bandimere Speedway in Denver, a fantastic facility that many Arizona racers have raced at, is closing at the end of 2018 because they cannot get a lease renewal. It’s going to be torn down and developed . . . what a waste. The Strip at Las Vegas is also currently closed for re- con guring their strip into a 4-wide track and will reopen in 2018.

Outlaw Race Engines in Phoenix has added a super piece of equipment to their operation, and it’s the only one in Arizona and one of only a handful currently in the USA. It’s a super-slick valve seat/grinding machine, made by Serdi in Italy, and capable of tolerances formerly unheard of in this type of work. Cylinder head specialist Bill Wallace at Outlaw is very enthusiastic about the new hardware, as it gives precison results every time. Give Outlaw a call if you need a valve job or any other machine show work. They also have the largest stock of racing nitrous in the Valley!
