Wild Horse Pass took a hold of the NHRA Jr Dragster program when it first
started a few years back. Six teens came to join the program and run all season back then. As the years have gone by some have moved on to high school class to continue their growth
in drag racing. Plus new teens have been introduced into the Junior Street program that continues. Girls and
boys alike are enjoying this program with their families. It has become a great opportunity for the teens to learn responsibility and trustworthyness with their parents that drive with the teens in the family daily driver. For the 2018
season, race one and two was ran back in January and race 3 and 4 just this past March.
For race one, Wild Horse Pass first ever Jr Street 2017 champion Ryan “girl” Edwards took the lead in trying
to keep her points going for another championship won over Rebecca Bopp. In semi’s Edwards ran the bye for the round into the finals. Bopp raced against Maddie Pollard who had the better reaction time to give her the advantage at the finish line to pull herself into the finals against Edwards.
The following day on Sunday of the two day weekend event. Once more Ryan “Girl” Edwards took the win
again, but this time against Maddie Pollard. Maddie turned on the red in the finals. In the semi’s Troy Jackson lost to Edwards and Rebecca Bopp lost to Pollard.
On to race 3 and 4 season points for March. Over this weekend it was girls vs the boys in some great fun racing action! Race 3 Ryan “girl” Edwards went on to win her 3 finals, giving her
a big lead in the point series. Edwards won over Maddie Pollard who took a red for the runner up spot. In semi’s Pollard had the bye into the finals. And Edwards raced against Rebecca Bopp who almost ran dead on her dial, but the light was all Edwards.
Race 4 the following day of Sunday, The boys have been taking a 1st round loss up until this race. Jr Dragster racer Troy Jackson got the hang of racing
a full size vehicle and came through
the ladder to make the finals and win this event. Semi Jackson took the bye run into the finals to run again Maddie Pollard. Pollard had to race Ryan “Girl” Edwards in her semi match. Winning with a better reaction time to help her go into the finals against Jackson giving her the runner up position.
